Anchor Bank has been notified by our on-line service provider, Digital Insight, about a scam that is targeting individuals and businesses.
The current phishing scam works as follows. The scam group sends an email that appears to be from an official Digital Insight source; for example, it may read “Digital Insight Customer Care,” or “Digital Insight Administration,” etc. The email may contain a message such as the following:
Dear bank account holder,
The ACH transaction, recently initiated from your bank account, was rejected by the Electronic Payments Association. Please review the transaction report by clicking the link below:
Unauthorized ACH Transaction Report
The above message is a scam. We advise our customers to immediately delete any emails such as this, and be careful not to take the actions requests. The request for you to click on the link is a trick designed to gain access to sensitive data, such as your passwords, or financial information.
Please do not click on this link. Users are advised to NEVER click links or install programs suggested in emails, even if the email appears to be from an official or familiar source. Digital Insight and Anchor Bank will never send clients an email containing links to download software or applications.
While the scam is not targeting Anchor Bank customers in particular, we are sending you this notice so that you know what to do if you do receive one of these phishing emails. If you have questions about this, or would like to report that you have been targeted by the phishing scam, please call or visit any Anchor Bank location or call us toll-free at 800-562-9744.
